Hi Everyone. I am the chef and owner of Kanlaya, a Thai restaurant specializing in authentic Thai cuisine. Kanlaya means “Beautiful woman” and also happens to be my mom’s name. In respect to my mom, I named the restaurant after her. My mom owned and operated 3 Thai restaurants in Japan for 16 years. She gave me encouragement, advice and recipes. I have always loved to cook Thai food for friends and family, and every time they keep telling me that I should open a restaurant because I make every dishes from scratch and very authentic. I would love everyone who eats from my restaurant to experience real Thai taste. I also would like to show my culture because I am so proud to be Thai. On occasion, I will have Thai traditional dance shows, Thai live music, and teach some simple Thai words for customers. I can also give everyone good recommendations and cultural information if they want to travel to Thailand as I travel back often.
